Follow these five operational briefings to host lag-free 6-player yards, configure creator-safe modes, and climb the backyard Steam leaderboards.
Host a session from the main menu and invite up to 5 friends via Steam overlay or by copying the session lobby code. On Elvira's Backyard, the fastest crew split assigns one driver to calibrate the riding mower deck to 5 cm, one teammate on the String Trimmer to edge perimeter fences and relocate Gómez the gnome, and two haulers carrying two grass bags at a time (or towing chained Little Red Wagons) to Chiquito's green pickup truck.
Built-in proximity voice chat lets you talk naturally with nearby crew members over the hum of the mower engine. Once you cash in enough grass bags at Chiquito's pickup truck, purchase the Party Speakers & Microphone, place the PA stack on the lawn, grab the wired mic, and turn the rotary knob to broadcast in chipmunk, monster, robot, phone, or megaphone voice across the property.
Added in Demo Update 0.9.22 under Options > General, Family Friendly Mode swaps the character's cigarettes for a lollipop (eliminating smoke particles and coughing) and converts the cooler's ice-cold beer six-pack into water bottles that never cause wobbly steering. Each player in an online co-op lobby can toggle Family Friendly Mode on or off independently at any time.
Content creators streaming co-op sessions should enable Streamer Mode (Update 0.9.19) to conceal the on-screen lobby code while keeping clipboard copy functional. Set Shared Music permissions to Ask, Always, or Never to control custom cassette audio from guests, and use the Update 0.9.22 Hide HUD toggle to capture clean screenshots and timelapse videos.
Demo Update 0.9.20 upgraded the post-job mowing timelapse so it records the entire yard—including every pass mowed by co-op friends. Between mowing passes, grab fruit from the patio to compete on the juggling leaderboard or drink from the six-pack (on foot, on the mower, or sitting inside a red wagon) and toss empty cans into the bin for the dedicated Can Throwing Steam leaderboard.
